Weekly Highlights Jan 21, 2013-Jan 27,2013
Monday. So today Sister Hinkle decided to be a good little girl and send her loved ones the packages that have been sitting on our apartment floor the last....1 month;P. We showed up at the post office innocent little girls having NO IDEA how much shipping costs....Well Sis. Hinkle hopes you enjoy the packages because they will be the last ones you get! Needless to say she spent more money on packages then we both have on food this month. HAHA-Sis Bohne :)
Later that night we went over to Family Cziniock's for dinner. Like little slackers we had been so focused on the 72€ packages we had failed to think about the spiritual thought that we would be giving. It is a good thing that on a mission we are always in 3; both missionaries and the spirit. It is a good thing that Monday the spirit did not take a p-day and had been thinking about a lesson. As we opened our scriptures we felt prompted to read 1 Nephi 19:23 and then do what we did with Sister Glen the week before. As we asked Denny to ask a question, then open the scriptures, the spirit filled the room. The question that Denny asked is should I go on a mission? A question he has been thinking about for the last few months. As he opened the scriptures he landed on Moroni 8:2 My beloved son, Denny,(we had him put himself in the scripture) I rejoice exceedingly that your Lord Jesus Christ hath been mindful of you, and hath called you to his ministry, and to his holy work. OH MY GOODNESS......Stuff like this only happens with the spirit!!! We love serving with the spirit!
Tuesday: ''Holy Toast Batman, we got a package!''<-(Sister Hinkle) Sister Bohne got the lovely package filled with vitamins and Stevie sent be her mother. Still Sister Hinkle has a problem with the post office....Sister Bohne is utterly confused as to why... ) :P
Also had a wonderful appointment with Laarni. We went over the Baptismal Questions for the first time with her. She was totally solid except with the idea of coming to church every Sunday. After bearing our testimony's about church we explained we would focus more on it during our appointment on Sunday.
Wednesday: Today we talked with Sister Braukhof (The Oma of Sister Bohne here in Germany) We talked about eternal families, and were able to bear our testimony of gratitude about the decision of our parents being sealed for eternity! It is crazy how your own testimony is strengthend as you bear testimony...Sister Hinkle is now super marriage hungry...JK JK JK HAHAH-Sister Bohne
We also met with Regine at the church. As we sat down and were getting ready to teach she told that we should play a game....way to throw a wrench in the missionary style... but that is ok Sister Bohne and Sister Hinkle were prepared. We ended up playing a roundhouse story game. This is were we all take turns drawing a part of a picture as we tell a story. Once again the 3rd member of our companionship took over, yep the spirit played to. The story was of a women who was sitting outside one day when she found a book under a tree, can you guess what book?!?! As she read in this book she ended up going on a journey. In the middle of her journey she was standing on a BIG rock (Helaman 5:12). As she was on this big rock a storm came and tried to knock her off. Well long story short she stayed on the rock and then ended up reading Moroni 10:3-5. She went into a pretty meadow knelt down and followed the council in Moroni. At this point we just started having a conversation with Regine. It was super cool to hear her testimony of the Book of Mormon and how it has been helping her as she reads in it. She is making so much progress, solid progress!!!
Thursday: As always we had district meeting but, today was special, we ate breakfast too! French toast, AMERICAN SYRUP (snuck off a military base) and fried potatoes! YUMMY! We had a great time and we got to know each other better. We also received a referral from the Elders.
We got a call from office that Sister Bohne should go and get her drivers license. This time we only waited 3 hours in the DMV, I guess waiting in the DMV line is an international thing.
We then went on a treasure hunt to find the Martenz family. It was an adventure! We went to a few different homes, met some really nice people and eventually found the Martenz family. They had no interest but it was fun.
Friday: Oh my goodness AMAZING appointment with Family Bastan-mehr! Fatima got on line to show us some pictures of her family, and ended up on facebook. We were not sure at this point how we were going to pull it back into a lesson. As she showed us some pictures she went on a Sister Missionaries facebook page where this sister missionary was playing by the Conference Center in Salt Lake City. She asked what that beautiful building was and we were then able to get on to lds.org and have her listen to a conference talk in Farsi! IT WAS PERFECT!
We were invited to Families Wiehe's for dinner. Sister Wiehe was the only one at home. This time we were prepared. We wanted to talk about eternal families at the end. So like GOOD little missionaries we lead the dinner conversion in the direction of her eternal family. As we finished eating Sister Wiehe asked us if we had a few minutes to watch a short home movie and see pictures of her husband who passed away from cancer. It was touching to see the love she had for him even after all the years apart. But is was even more faith building because of the peace she had about the past, and the hope she has for the future because of the covenants they had made. We bore testimony about how much our family means to us especially our mothers. We shared Alma 56:47-48.
It was one of the most mother/daughter type lessons that we have ever taught. The love of God was in the room with us. Sister Wiehe is one AMAZING women.
Saturday: Had a great lesson with Laarni about why coming to church was so important. We were able to bring Cynthia Fuch as a joint teach. Cynthia is 19 years old and headed out on her mission to the Alpine mission in a few months.
The lesson went so well. The spirit was strong. Cynthias testimony was perfect. And tomorrow you will read if she came or not... HAHA
Sunday:........ So we came to church. Guess who was also there. Yep the stake President. Daniel also showed up again for the 2nd time! Olivia Wiehe, daughter of the Sister we had dinner with, also came!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then as we were singing the intermediate hymn a member came up to us and told us that there was an investigator sitting outside.....LARRNI!!!! WOOT WOOT!
